Project Phoenix 2.0 for GPO Initial Prototype - Under Data Migration and Preliminary Test
Tuesday, April 30, 2024

The pursuit of a better system to enhance the experience of students and learners is at the core of Project Phoenix 2.0. This initiative seeks to replace Project Phoenix 1.0, currently known as EmpowerEd, which was developed and maintained by SEBITECH of the Technological Institute of the Philippines.

The University faced numerous challenges with Phoenix 1.0, prompting the need for a more adaptable and robust system. Project Phoenix 2.0 aims to address these issues by developing the University's own Student Information System (SIS). The new system is designed to support multiple school calendar structures simultaneously, including semestral, trimestral, quadmestral, and annual schedules, the latter of which presented significant difficulties under the previous setup.

The implementation of Project Phoenix 2.0 is expected to take at least a year before all Graduate Program Office (GPO) programs are fully integrated into the system. Leading the pilot phase of this ambitious project are the MABA Program under the School of Management, the Registrar’s Office (representing the GPO), the Admissions Office, and the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Unit. These units have worked collaboratively to design and pioneer the system’s development and initial deployment.

Despite the scale and complexity of the project, the collective efforts of these collaborating units are expected to overcome the challenges. A soft launch is planned with the MABA Program, followed by the system's full implementation in School Year 2025-26. Project Phoenix 2.0 represents a significant step forward for the University, promising a more flexible, efficient, and scalable solution to meet the diverse needs of its academic programs.
