URO - Research and Engagements Application
Thursday, October 10, 2024

The University Research Office (URO), in collaboration with the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Office, has successfully developed a homegrown Central Research Depot for the University. This innovative Research and Engagement Application now serves as the single source of truth for tracking and managing the research-related accomplishments of faculty and staff. By consolidating all research activities in one unified platform, the system ensures that the University's research efforts are accurately recorded, aligning with the institution’s broader research agenda and strategic goals.

The application has dramatically streamlined the reporting process, making it easier for faculty and staff to submit and track their research outputs. In addition to improving internal workflows, the system provides essential data for external stakeholders, including accrediting bodies and audit firms. This is particularly critical for maintaining the University’s Autonomous Level status, which requires rigorous documentation and transparency regarding research accomplishments and contributions.

One of the most significant features of this system is its ability to integrate seamlessly with the University’s Human Resource Information System (HRIS) 2.0, which is currently under development by the ICT Office. This integration facilitates a more holistic approach to data management by connecting research performance data with HR-related information. As a result, the University can maintain a more cohesive and interconnected data ecosystem, enhancing overall efficiency and ensuring that all relevant information is readily available across departments.

This collaboration between URO and ICT has not only resulted in a more efficient way of managing research data but also improved the University’s ability to support its academic and research staff, ensuring that their contributions are recognized and aligned with institutional objectives. Furthermore, it positions the University to better respond to accreditation requirements and audits, reinforcing its commitment to excellence in research and education.
